About

My name is Nikita Zhuk. I started my career in software in the late '90s, at the age of 16, when I and my friends ran a small software company that focused on shareware and freeware apps for Mac desktops.

I graduated from the University of Helsinki in 2009 (MSc in Computer Science, minor in Economics and Applied), specializing in software engineering. I spent the next decade writing software for OS X, iOS, and web, designing architectures, managing software development projects, and leading software teams in-house and as part of consulting gigs in other companies.

Currently, I manage the production of a publishing platform & a set of mobile apps for newspapers, magazines, ebooks, and audiobooks as Production Lead and Partner at Richie Ltd in Helsinki, Finland.

This is my personal blog. The primary purpose of this site is to have a home for my own notes about the things I read, see or think. The primary audience of these notes is myself, but by making my writing public, I put some pressure on myself to organize my thoughts and to engage more deeply with the material I read.

Write, so that you learn how to think.

If my posts mention books that are available for order from some online store, I may link to them using a referral link which may earn me a small commission. There's no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
